Battytean, County Carlow, Ireland

He appears to have been a farmer in Ireland, owning in 1720 land in Ballileau, Ballaghmore and Coolissnactah. In 1724 he came to America bringing with him his family, and located in the great valley on the west side of what is now Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he had purchased 500 acres of land.
He was an elder in Caln Meeting, and esteemed by Friends.
