He was born near Galilee, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and met a tragic death in an accident which occurred in Big Beaver township, when he was seventy-six years old. He followed the pursuits of agriculture; was a member of the U. P. Church, a strong Republican in politics, and acted as supervisor for some time.
