General Notes: Husband - William Clark Negley

He attended the public schools of Butler borough, and passed a short term in what was known as "The Old Stone Academy." In 1865 he entered the United States Academy at Annapolis, and there studied for four years, when he was assigned to service and spent a few years at sea. The condition of his health obliged him to abandon the naval service, and returning to Butler, Pennsylvania, he became associated with his father in the publication of the Citizen. He was always a stanch Republican, and in his capacity as editor of the Citizen rendered invaluable services to his party in the county.
