General Notes: Husband - Matthias Shepler


He was a native of Germany and immigrated to America, settling in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he took "tomahawk possession" of a tract of land containing about four hundred acres, for which he afterward obtained a patent and which then remained in the family for at least four generations. [BHCWC, 635]

He was a native of Maryland and emigrated to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, settling in Rostraver township during the Revolutionary war. [BHCWC, 635]

He, with two of his brothers, Peter and Philip, moved from Virginia before the war of the Revolution and settled in Rostraver township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, taking up farms on the Monongahela hills.

The Houseman family was one of the early settlers of Rostraver township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
