Mrs. T. H. Martin.
Mrs. Mary Houser Martin, wife of the late Thomas H. Martin, died shortly after midnight at her home, 1432 Buffalo street. Death followed a collapse early in the week. About five years ago Mrs. Martin suffered a stroke of paralysis and since that time had been an invalid.
Mrs. Martin was one of the best known of the older residents of the city. She was in her 77th year, having been born on December 20, 1828. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Houser, prominent residents of Bully Hill. She had always been a resident of this section. She was married to Mr. Martin in 1847. The following children survive: F. P. Martin, Mrs. W. F. Myers and Thomas H. Martin, all of Franklin, and W. H. Martin, of West Virginia.
Being a member of one of the oldest and best known families in this vicinity, Mrs. Martin enjoyed a wide acquaintance and her friendship was highly esteemed. In her earlier days she was closely allied in church and social matters with all the older residents who gave character to early Franklin. She was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
