General Notes: Husband - Joseph Thompson Irwin


He lived on the old Irwin homestead. He farmed until the year 1879 when he, in company with his step-son, J. M. Williams, built a planing mill in Dayton, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, which was completed and began operations on the 4th of May, 1879. He held several township offices and was President of the Dayton A. and M. Association for the year 1882. He was mustered into the State service as Captain of Co. G, 22nd Reg., September 10, 1862, being called into service by the Governor of Pennsylvania.
