General Notes: Husband - Thomas Persing "Punch" Hovis

He and his son owned the Hovis Museum of Early Americana. The Hovis Museum was located one mile from Exit 5 of Interstate 80 on Route 208, West Emlenton, RD 2, Pennsylvania between Clintonville and Emeleton. The museum was a remarkable collection of articles such as pre-revolutionary muskets, rifles from the Civil War and six shooters from the Old West. Also, dolls, china, crystal, watches, furniture, art, 18th century machinery and much more. The collection contained: an antique classic 12 cylinder 1947 Lincoln Continental with a luxurious interior, a 1914 LeFrance fire engine with chain driven operation and solid rubber tires obtained in New York State, and a 1909 Sears car, which headed the line of classic vehicles in the museum. In 1975 a 20,000 square foot building was erected to house the Hovis collection.
