General Notes: Husband - John Andrew Lemaster


He was reared on a farm near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and educated in the public schools. In 1855 he went to Williamsport, Maryland, where he was engaged in the coal and lumber business until 1862, when he was burnt out by the Confederates during the battle of Antietam. In the spring of 1863 he returned to Chambersburg and engaged in the grocery business, and was again burnt out by the Confederates, July 30, 1864. After the fire he resumed the business.
