General Notes: Husband - Solomon A. Huber


He was educated at the Chambersburg Academy, and at an early age began clerking in his father's store. When seventeen years old he enlisted in the United States Signal Corps. He served until the close of the Civil War. After his return to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, he kept a hat store for three years, but in 1870, he sold out and engaged in the grocery business. For a few months he conducted the business in partnership with Samuel Davison, but after the retirement of his partner he managed it alone. His was the oldest continuous business in the grocery trade in Chambersburg. He carried a full line of groceries and crockery ware. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Chambersburg Trust Company. He was a member of the Masonic Order, the I. O. O. F., the Red Men, and the G. A. R
