He was reared and married in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, and subsequently removed to Centre County, whence he came to Clearfield County, in 1803, locating near Clearfield creek, on land which at that time had not yet come into market. There he opened up a farm, which after his death was purchased by his son, James.
