In 1855 they went to Illinois and settled on the farm on which he died. In 1861 he went to Ottawa, where he kept a hotel until 1865, when he returned to the farm on which he remained until death. In December 1899, he and his wife celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their married life on which occasion all his brothers and sisters were present.
