General Notes: Husband - Joseph Troutman

He was born near Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and came to Clarion (then Armstrong) County, when a young man with his father. There he married and first lived at the mouth of Troutman's Run on the Allegheny river, where he cleared about fifty acres and erected buildings. To this tract, given him by his father-in-law, he added twenty-four acres and there lived until his death. He was a carpenter by trade and did a great deal of contracting in Perry township. He served in the war of 1812, going to Erie after Commodore Perry's victory, but was not engaged in any battles. He was first a Democrat, later a Whig and held several township offices. Both he and his wife were members of the Methodist church.
