General Notes: Husband - Abraham H. Wegley

He received a fair and practical education in the Brush Creek school and then engaged in farming. He owned one of the most valuable farms in Hempfield township, which was very fertile and well improved and lay within the great natural gas belt of western Pennsylvania. He was a democrat of the old school, served two terms as school director of his township and took a deep interest in education.
He and his family were members of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Wegley was a trustee of his church and was a member of the building committee, both of Manor and Penn Presbyterian churches.

After acquiring a liberal education at the Brush Creek school and by private study, he engaged in agriculture on the homestead farm, which he afterwards owned. He was an ardent advocate of education, and for a number of years was a school director of his township. In politics he was a Democrat, a local leader of his party, and frequently served in political capacities. In his early manhood he united with the Brush Creek Reformed Church, in which he was an active member and deacon. Later in life, upon the death of his old pastor, Rev. Nicholas P. Hacke, he became a member and trustee of the Manor Presbyterian Church. He was a prominent member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Ancient Order of United Workmen.
