General Notes: Husband - Dr. Matthew A. Swaney


He was born in Greene Township, in Beaver County, Pennsylvani, where he attended the public schools, afterwards taking the liberal arts course at Westminster College. His medical training was obtained at Starling Medical College, at Columbus, Ohio, where he graduated with his degree of Doctor of Medicine, in the class of 1903. He immediately began practice at Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and continued in general practice some years, removing to Wampum in 1924. Dr. Swaney was a Republican in his political convictions, but he did not aspire to any public office. His fraternal affiliations were with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, being a member and Past Grand of Cynosure Lodge, No. 805, of Eldersville, Pennsylvania, and was Past District Deputy Grand Master of Pennsylvania; also a member of Falls City Encampment, No. 137, of Beaver Falls; and the Fraternal Patriotic Americans. His religious faith was that of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
