General Notes: Husband - Edwin Wison Humphrey


He received his early education in the district schools of Portersville, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he spent his boyhood. He graduated from Grove City College in 1892, and from the Law Department of the University of Pennsylvania in 1897. He began his business career as a merchant at Portersville. For a number of years he was interested in the banking business at Butler. During the World War he was chairman of the Butler County Liberty Loan drives, all of which were successful.
In politics Mr. Humphrey was always independent. He and his wife held membership in the First Presbyterian Church.
