General Notes: Husband - James B. Hurst

He was engaged in the clothing and furnishing business at Scottdale, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was still young, however, when his father removed to Westmoreland County and settled at Scottdale, and it was at the local public schools of the latter place that the lad received his education. Upon completing his studies at these institutions, he entered the employ of Frank Grazier, who was engaged in the men's furnishing business. Here the young man remained for eight years until Mr. Grazier, in recognition of his long and valuable services, admitted him into partnership into the business. This association continued for eight years longer, and in the year 1911, upon the retirement of Mr. Grazier, Mr. Hurst became the sole proprietor.
Mr. Hurst was a Presbyterian in religion, a Republican in politics, a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and his chief recreation was motoring.
