General Notes: Husband - Robert Irwin

He was born in the wil-derness of Highland County, Ohio, where he at-tended the first school held in the county. The schoolhouse was of logs, one end being the fire-place, and the windows were holes cut in the logs and covered with greased paper. For five years he drove teams for his father between Chillicothe and Cincinnati, Ohio.
He met his future wife while visiting his uncle, James, in Pennsylvania. A correspondence was begun, and in 1840 they were married.

He was a native of Highland County, Ohio, who came to Washington County, Pennsylvania, when young and engaged in farming and stock raising until the time of his death.
