He came to Venango County, Pennsylvania, with his first wife and settled in the northern part of Cherrytree Township, north of Breedtown, in 1803 or 1804. Their first improvement was a log cabin, which they erected and lived in for several years. They had a family of six children. With his second wife he had nine children.
