General Notes: Husband - Dr. Louis Augustus Lyon


He was born at Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He removed with the family to Altoona, Pennsylvania, in 1876. After attending high school at Altoona, he learned the trade of machinist at the shops of the Pennsylvania railroad at Altoona. He served four years as apprentice, receiving his certificate as journeyman in 1891. He was then transferred to the Harrisburg shops, and a year latter to the Juniata shops near Altoona. In 1900 he entered the office of the assistant-engineer at Altoona, as draughtsman. In 1901 he became interested in Osteopathy and studied at the Atlantic College of Osteopathy at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, graduating as salutatorian in a class of thirty-four, June 24, 1903. He at once began practice at Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro, superintendent of the Sunday school, and a member of the board of deacons.
