General Notes: Husband - Benjamin Jack

He received a common school education, and followed farming until 1858, when he came to Butler and took charge of the old Lowry House. He carried on this hotel for three years, then returned to Worth township and continued to farm until 1864, when he purchased the Lowry House, which he conducted until 1868. He then purchased the Zimmerman Hotel, later known as the Willard, where he died. After his death the property was sold to Robert Barren.
He belonged to the Presbyterian church. In politics, he was originally a Whig and then a Republican, and was an enterprising business man.
