General Notes: Husband - Fred Bair Jackson

He was educated in the local district schools. He completed his studies in these institutions at a very early age, however, and when no more than fourteen or fifteen years of age, entered the employ of the Westmoreland Electric Company. He remained with this concern for upwards of eleven years, during which time he was constantly planning how to become independent in business. He consistently put by his earnings with this end in view and eventually was able to see his ambition gratified. Accordingly, he established himself in the Safe Deposit and Trust Building in an electric wiring and supply business. Here he remained for about two years, and then moved to No. 211 North Main street, remaining for about the same period. He then came to quarters at No. 234 North Main street, where he established a large and extensive business. He had a very extensive stock of electric supplies, wiring, etc., and was regarded as one of the most progressive and successful merchants of the city. Mr. Jackson was a prominent figure as well in the social and fraternal circles of the community. He was affiliated with the local lodges of the Knights of Pythias and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In politics he was a Democrat, but was not very active in public affairs, as the demands made upon his time by his business interests were onerous in the extreme. In his religious belief he was a member of the Reformed church, of Greensburg.
