General Notes: Husband - James Wilmer Martin

He was born in Darlington, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, but left there in infancy, moving to Beaver Falls. He attended the public schools of Beaver Falls, and the high school, and after finishing the high school course entered Geneva College, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1915. He then went to the University of Pittsburgh for two years, and followed this with a course at Georgetown University, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Laws, in the class of 1918. When the First World War broke out and America decided to get into the struggle, Mr. Martin enlisted, and rose to be a sergeant, first-class, and was honorably discharged March 8, 1919. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Beaver Falls. He was also a member of the American Legion, and, with his family, was a consistent attendant of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls. In politics he was a Republican. Mr. Martin was also a member of the faculty of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, where he was head of the Department of Economics.
