General Notes: Husband - Priestley R. Johnson


He was a farmer, a manufacturer and a merchant. In partnership with others, he built the first factory in the Wyoming Valley for the manufacture of powder kegs, and for several years he was engaged in mercantile life in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was at one time street commissioner. It was written of him that he was "a man of large heart, of sound and mature judgment." "Being thoroughly imbued with correct principles of right and wrong, he was never known to swerve from the path of duty as a citizen in private or public capacity."
