General Notes: Husband - Judge Isaac E. Wierman


He was reared on the old family homestead in Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and obtained a good common school education in the school a few steps from his father's place. He remained with his father until 1832, when he moved to his own farm.
He was a life-long Democrat, and served his township in various offices. He served as justice of the peace five years, and in 1860 was appointed, by Gov. Packer, associate county judge, to fill a vacancy for one year, at the expiration of which time he was elected associate county judge, and at the end of his term of service (five years) was re-elected, and served the county eleven years in all.
He was appointed and served as administrator for many estates; he was also appointed and acted as guardian of the interests of many minors. He was appointed by the officers of the bankrupt court a receiver for the bankrupt estate of Joel Griest, of some $20,000.
He was a member of the Society of Friends.
