General Notes: Husband - David Johnston

Upon the old family homestead he was reared to the honest toil incident to a farmer's life, and in the common schools of the locality he received a good practical education. He never left the parental roof, and assumed the management of the farm four years previous to his father's death, after which he purchased the interests of the other heirs, and continued to make that place his home. He purchased other land, some of which he gave to his children. Lumbering claimed his attention to some extent, and he was still the owner of the minerals underlying his land.
