General Notes: Husband - Samuel Johnston


He received his education in the public schools of Manor Hill, Pennsylvania, and began life on the farm, where he remained and assisted his father until he was thirty years of age. At that time he rented a farm of 150, acres at Manor Ridge, where he remained for sixteen years. In 1883 he purchased a farm of 220 acres of land in Barree township, Huntingdon County, on which he made many improvements.
He was a Democrat, and served as postmaster of Masseysburg nine years; he was also supervisor. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
