General Notes: Husband - Dr. Stephen A. Johnston, D.D.S.


He received his primary education in the common schools, subsequently attended Witherspoon Institute, and graduated from Iron City College, Pittsburgh, in 1868. He studied dentistry with Levere & Moore, of Butler, and in 1873 located in Downington, Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he practiced his profession for over seven years. In 1881 he graduated from the College of Dental Surgery, Philadelphia, and in 1882 he located in Butler, where he then built up a lucrative practice.
He gave considerable attention to oil producing, in which he was quite successful, and was president of the Producers Torpedo Company. Politically, he was an independent voter, and was recognized as one of the leading professional men in the community.
