General Notes: Husband - William Jones


He was educated at the common schools of Rostraver township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, reared on the farm, and was an extensive and successful farmer, devoting his time and energy to that vocation until 1873. He then moved to North Belle Vernon and took up his abode there, becoming one of the prominent and successful business men of the place. He was one of the organizers of the bank at Belle Vernon in 1872, known by the name of S. F. Jones & Company, subsequently reorganized under the name of The Valley Deposit and Trust Company, of which he was vice president. He was also a member of the Belle Vernon Planing Mill Company, the Monessen Lumber Company, Belle Vernon Water Company, and a stockholder in the Monessen Savings & Trust Company. He was prominently identified with the Methodist Episcopal church for more than fifty years, served for many years on the official board, and was later president of the board of trustees.
