General Notes: Husband - John Nevin Pomeroy


He was educated at Tuscarora Academy, and afterward engaged in mercantile pursuits with his father at Academia, Juniata County, Pennsylvania. He was subsequently in the wholesale drygoods business in Philadelphia with his cousin, John M. Pomeroy. During the Civil war he was clerk to Major Pomeroy, a paymaster in the army. After the war he was for five years an Inspector of Customs in Philadelphia, and then became a merchant at Parkesburg. In 1875 he returned to Academia to manage his father's estate, and in 1892 he removed to Chambersburg, where he was notary public until his death.
