General Notes: Husband - Charles Calvin Kemerer

He was born in Franklin township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, north of Greensburg, on his father's farm. He was the youngest of the thirteen children born to his parents. He continued to reside with his father until he had attained the age of twenty-two years, having gained his education in the meantime at the local public schools, in addition to which he had studied for a couple of terms at Greensburg Seminary. He then left the parental home and purchased his own farm, comprised of about one hundred acres, where he engaged in general farming. In addition to this he also operated a dairy there, where he made butter for special customers. For eight years he was officially connected with the supervision of the township roads, serving for five years of that time as master under superintendents James McDermott and J. F. Hudson. He himself became superintendent in December, 1913, and served in that capacity for four terms. He was also secretary of the board of superintendents and had his offices in Greensburg; the district in which he had charge consisted of the northwest part of Hempfield township. Mr. Kemerer was a Democrat in politics and was regarded as a factor of importance in political affairs.

Besides the five children listed, he and his wife had four others who died in infancy.
