He was educated at Tuscarora Academy, and studied medicine under Dr. Joseph Kelly, of Spruce Hill. In the autumn of 1849 he opened an office in Johnstown, Pennsylvania; in the spring of 1850 removed to Academia, where he practiced in his profession until 1875, when he removed to Port Royal, where he practiced until the spring of 1879, when he removed to Pittsburgh, where he continued in the profession for several more years, enjoying an enlarged practice. A man of fine appearance, genial in manners, skilled in his profession, he left the county regretted by many friends.
