He was a Presbyterian divine, and became one of the pioneer ministers of Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, laboring earnestly there for the spiritual welfare of its people. He was a man of high literary attainments, a proficient Greek and Latin scholar, and his life work was unusually successful. He was well known throughout the entire state.
