General Notes: Wife - Jane Maria "Jennie" Stright

She spent the years before her marriage at the Stright homestead in Deer Creek township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. After her marriage they lived at Clark's Mills, and after five years there moved to the Thompson house in Sheakleyville on April 1, 1890. After working a year at the Minnis V. McCracken Dry Goods Store, bought and operated a hardware store and lived next door. On April 1, 1892 Aunt Jennie's younger brother, Fred, bought the store. That winter her husband worked at a wholesale hardware store in Punxsutawney. In 1893 they moved to the Snyder home near the Sheakleyville Post Office. In 1899 he began working in Sharon, where they moved to a home on Prindle Avenue on July 15, 1901. After living in Sharon for 23 years they purchased a farm at Clark's Mills and lived there until 1939 when they made their home with their daughter, Anna, and son-in-law Rev. Frank S. McKnight. After Mr. McKnight's death and her husband's death Aunt Jennie lived with her daughter in Erie, Pennsylvania.
She was a life long member of the Methodist Church which she joined after her marriage.
Aunt Jennie made an invaluable contribution to the Stright history. From 1878 to 1921 she summarized the story of the family at the end of each year, recording births, deaths and marriages. She always reported the whereabouts of all members of the family and listed all who were at the homestead at year's end. Her diary is preserved in the family archives.
