General Notes: Husband - William Henry Shaffer

He went to school in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, PA, after which he engaged in farming on the home place. He went to Oakdale, Allegheny County, and followed the trade of a carpenter and builder, then located at Clintonville, Venango County. He worked for his brother, George W. Shaffer, in the meat business, and continued until after his marriage. He then established a meat market in Eau Claire. He rented a shop for a time, then purchased a residence property and a lot on which he put up a good substantial store building for use in his business. He also purchased a twenty-acre tract in the borough, and there he maintained his cattle pens, and his ice and cold storage plant.
Politically, he was a Republican, and was a member of the borough council and the school board of Eau Claire Academy. He and his wife were devout members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. [HBC 1909, 1353]
