Lawrence Co, PA - a farmer

He acquired his literary education in the public schools of Union Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He was engaged almost continuously in agricultural pursuits. He also served as auditor and as a member of the School Board. In politics he was identified with the Republican party. He was a member of the First Christian Church of New Castle.
