Beaver Twp, Clarion Co, PA

He was educated in the common schools of Porter township and grew up on his father's farm, in the work and man­agement of which he early became an active factor. As a young man he began to work in the oil region and was long interested in the oil business. He had eleven acres of land at Blair's Corners and was the owner of exten­sive tracts in other neighborhoods, aggregat­ing about one hundred and fifty acres. In politics he was a Democrat and he gave freely of his aid and influence in support of all mat­ters projected for the good of the general wel­fare. He was a devout member of the Reform­ed church and was a liberal contributor to vari­ous charitable organizations.
