General Notes: Husband - Frank Kline

His education was received in the common schools of the township, supplemented by two terms at West Freedom Academy in 1878, followed by attendance at Emlenton Academy and Salem Institute at Lamartine. It was his desire to take a college course, but this was frustrated; he became a teacher at the conclusion of his studies, and taught school for some six months. In 1883 he went to Iowa and there remained for about ten years, working by the month on a farm. After this he returned to Pennsyl-vania, having accumulated a sufficient amount to enable him to buy out the heirs of the old homestead, upon which he then resided with his mother. He conducted a general farming business, and became one of the most influential men in his locality. He was a member of the Lutheran church, and belonged to the Order of the Maccabees.
