General Notes: Husband - Adam Henry Knauf

He was secretary and treasurer of The Harmony Cereal Company, at Harmony, Pennsylvania, and for many years prior to 1906 was an extensive farmer and stock-raiser in Forward Township, where he owned a fine farm of 250 acres.

He obtained his education in the Cooper School, in Forward Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and remained at home and followed farming until he turned his attention to milling in 1906. He owned about seven-eighths of the stock in the Harmony Cereal Company at Harmony, which was incorporated in August, 1906, with a capital stock of $30,000. The company bought and sold a large amount of grain and did a large business, the mill capacity being thirty-five barrels of flour a day.
He and his family were members of the German Reformed Church. In politics he was a Democrat and he was frequently elected by his fellow citizens to responsible township offices and served as auditor, supervisor and assessor. He was a member of Eden Lodge, Knights of Pythias.

He received a common school education. In 1883 he purchased a farm of 200 acres, where he then resided. He had on his farm thirty-six producing wells, drilled after 1890, one of which produced ninety barrels per hour, and another 100 barrels per hour. In 1893, he was elected, on the Democratic ticket, township auditor. He was an adherent of the Lutheran church. [HBC 1895, 1136]
