General Notes: Husband - John T. Reeves

His elementary education received in the public schools, he prepared for college. He matriculated at Geneva College, and was graduated in the class of 1885, with the degree of Bachelor of Science. He had determined to follow banking as his vocation, and became one of the organizers of the First National Bank in Beaver Falls in 1885. He was elected to the office of cashier, holding that position until 1893, when he resigned to establish the private banking house of John T. Reeves & Company. His father, John Reeves, was the new bank's first president, and John T. Reeves, secretary and treasurer. Upon the death of his father, in 1917, the son became president. The firm of John T. Reeves & Company was the successor of the old Economite Savings and Trust Company, which was one of the pioneer banking institutions of Beaver County. The house of Reeves & Company also did an extensive business in real estate, and handled all forms of insurance, except life. Its business expanded to such a large volume after the company was organized that its original capital stock of $50,000 was increased to $200,000.
During the World War Mr. Reeves was chairman of the Liberty Loan campaigns in his district, and he had under his direction more than 1,500 workers. He and his staff had the satisfaction of seeing every quota exceeded by a large margin in his district. For the conspicuous part he played in the campaigns the United States Government awarded him a certificate of appreciation.
Mr. Reeves was an adherent of the Republican Party, and served as a member of the City Council of Beaver Falls. His religious connection was with the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls, where he was chairman of the board of sessions and a member of the board of trustees. He was a member of the Beaver Falls and the Pennsylvania State Chambers of Commerce, and of the Beaver Falls Rotary Club.
