General Notes: Husband - Maj. Wilson Knott


He first located in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1830.
He was a captain of a company in the War of 1812, and served nearly two years, his company being raised in Westmoreland and Indiana counties, Pennsylvania. He was a contractor on the Pennsylvania canal, and also on the Kentucky river canal. He was the superintendent of the Morris canal of New Jersey for nine years, and for four years, the postmaster of Newark, New Jersey. He also served as major in the militia of that state for several years. In 1849, he returned to Blairsville, Pennsylvania, where he was the postmaster for four years.
