General Notes: Husband - Col. Thomas Knowlton


He won imperishable fame at the battle of Bunker Hill. He was a friend of George Washington, who showed Knowlton several marks of apprecia-tion and respect. Colonel Knowlton was killed in 1776 at the battle of Harlem Heights. His statue was erected by the state of Con-necticut at the capital at Hartford.
