The following is from the unpublished book "The Cauvel Family" by John R. Cauvel. It is available at the Franklin Public Library, Franklin, Pa.

1. Albrecht Kobel was born in the year 1385 near Jungfrau Mountain in Switzerland. He lived in Ulm, Germany, in 1406 and probably settled there during the reign of Court Rupert. He died in 1440 in Ulm, Germany. He married and his first born was named Bartholomas.

2.Bartholomas Kobel was born in 1415 in Ulm, Germany. He is listed as living there in 1484. His first born was named Hans.

3. Hans Kobel was born in 1438 in Ulm, Germany. He married a girl named Margaretha who was born Nordlingen, near Donauworth, Germany. Hans died in 1512 in Oberdorf, Germany. Michael was his first born.

4. Michael Kobel was born in 1460 in Bepfinger, Germany and moved to Nordlingen, Germany, where he died about 1517. He was married and Leonard was his first born. His wife died in 1515.

5. Leonard Kobel was born in 1490 at Norlingen. He married Anna Reyschlag who was born in Nordlingen. Claus was first born.

6. Claus Kobel was born in 1520 in Nordlingen. He married Magdalena of Nordlingen who was born in 1545. Claus died in 1584 in Nordlingen. Ludwig was their first born.

7. Ludwig Kobel was born 1565 in Nordlingen. He married Margaretha Kalschmidt of Norlingen. Ludwig was their first born. Ludwig, the elder, died Oct. 12, 1634, in Nordlingen.

8. Ludwig Kobel was born Jan. 13, 1596, in Nordlingen. He married Apolonia Breidner of Nordlingen in 1630. Their fifth child was Nicholas.

9. Nicholas Kobel was born Jan. 25, 1641, in Nordlingen. He married Anna Maria Hartman of Zwickau, Saxon, Germany on April 22, 1680. They lived in Norlingen and Kork, Baden, Germany. Their third child was Johan Nicholas.

10. Johan Nicholas Kobel was born about 1703 in Baden. He moved to Weinheim, Germany. He married Sabina Catherina Artz of Baden and they had six children. He came to America in 1750, landing in Philadelphia in October on the ship "Sally". He was listed under the name of Nicholas Cawbell. He returned to Germany where he died in 1771. His third child was named Casper.

11. Casper Kobel was born in Weinheim, Germany near Heidelberg on Feb. 20, 1731. He was married three times. His second wife was Anna Maria Riehl, who was born in Berks County, Penna. His third wife was Catherine Glasser who was born in Heidelberg, Germany. This marriage was on Mar. 10, 1776, in Berks County, Pa. Casper is listed as having 16 children. Casper came to American in August of 1750, landing at Philadelphia. He is listed in the 1790 Census as Casper Cawbell. He changed his name to Kobel. His eleventh child was named Jacob. He died at the age of 84 in 1815.
