General Notes: Husband - Dr. John Alfred Stevens, M.D.


His early education was acquired in the public schools and the high school of Venango County, Pennsylvania, after which he attended the Clarion Normal School, and the Grove City College, from which he went to the Medical School of Jefferson College, Philadelphia, from which he was graduated with the class of 1908, and received the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Stevens served one year as an interne in the West Penn Hospital of Pittsburgh, six months in the Cooper Hospital of New Jersey, at Camden, and he came to Woodlawn, Pennsylvania, in October, 1909, where he then conducted the general practice of medicine. Dr. Stevens was a director in the Woodlawn Trust Company, and was vice-president of the Woodlawn Building and Loan Association. In politics he was a Republican. He served one term as burgess of Woodlawn Borough. In fraternal association he was a member of Woodlawn Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons; Beaver Valley Commandery; Pittsburgh Consistory; and Syria Shrine. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Medical Society; the County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. He belonged to the Rotary Club of Woodlawn. In religion he was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
