General Notes: Husband - John Kryder

He was a Revolutionary War soldier; he lived a while at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, thence moved to the David Herbst farm, west of Lewisburg about five miles. He and his family left with the "Great Runaway" of 1778, but returned and moved to what was later the Alexander place, south of Millheim.

His wife came from Germany when quite a young girl, and had to serve two years with some citizen living on the Delaware to pay her passage across the ocean. Her lot was not an agreeable one; she was subject to severe toil and many hardships. Among other drudgeries imposed upon her she had to carry the water from the river, when the Delaware was low, required in her master's distillery.
