General Notes: Husband - David Shumaker


He was reared to manhood on the old family homestead and received a common school education. Farming was always his occupation, and he owned his own farm, a fine tract of 121 acres, beginning in 1866. He served his township as school director, super­visor, assessor and tax collector. In politics he was associated with the Republican party. He was a member of the German Bap­tist Church.
