General Notes: Husband - Charles Washington Reed Radeker

He was reared and educated in his native town and county. In 1867, he went to Sheffield, Warren County, Pennsylvania, where he accepted a position as clerk in the store of Horton, Crary & Co. After being associated with them for some time, he entered into partnership with Amos Lee, and under the firm name of Lee & Radeker, conducted a meat market, also handling confectionery, cigars, etc., in the basement of Horton, Crary & Co.'s store. In 1870, the Lee House was built and conducted as a temperance hotel, and the meat market and confectionery store were removed into the basement of the hotel. Mr. Radeker subsequently sold his interest in the business and again engaged in clerking for Horton, Crary & Co., until 1872, when he purchased an interest in John McNair & Co.'s business at Sheffield. In 1893 their tannery was consolidated with the United States Leather Company. Aside from his interest in the tannery, he then lived a retired life. He occupied a large and handsome residence, with beautiful surroundings, which was built by John McNair & Co.
