She belonged to an ancient family, being a descendant of the Lords of Cora Baisgin, who endeavored to conduct themselves so that their posterity might have sufficient proof "of the proud fact that they were of Irish descent" as given in the motto on their coat-of-arms: Sic nos sic sacra tuernur, or "We guard ourselves and our faith."
