General Notes: Husband - John L. Kline

He was educated in the common schools of his native place and was reared on the farm. He remained with his father until his marriage. After his marriage, he began housekeeping on the old homestead. In 1878 he, in connection with his brothers, bought the old home farm, and cultivated it with his brother George. The farm contained 350 acres, and the house was a substantial stone structure, built in 1778. He was a staunch Republican, and took a prominent part in township matters, serving as school director and tax collector, and later filled the important office of associate judge, to which he was elected in the autumn of 1894. In religious faith and fellowship he was a Lutheran, and in this church he served in various offices for fifteen years. He was a school teacher in the early part of his life.
