Prior to 1850 he lost his property in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, by reason of some defect in the original title. Impoverished and somewhat dis-heartened by this event he, in 1853, removed with his second wife and their children to Harrisville, Wisconsin, where he resided until his death, when he was aged seventy-eight.
