General Notes: Husband - James G. Latimer

He received his education at the New Alexandria schools, and after having graduated from these institutions, taught school for several years in Derry township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. His next step was to engage in farming with his father, who had already made a name for himself as a successful farmer, and remained with the elder man until his death, which occurred in 1862. He then took complete control of affairs on the old homestead and continued actively engaged until about 1900, when he sold a half interest to his eldest son, William Clifton Latimer. In 1909 the elder Mr. Latimer removed to New Alexandria, and retired from active work altogether, leaving the management of the farm to his son, who carried on the business for both.
